What you need in some career fields is hands-on training for the particular job you wish to succeed in. Therefore it can be imperative that you undergo training for career which is the only way to ensure that you have thorough practical knowledge on the trade you are in or plan to be in. There is a common conception that high school education is often not enough to take you places. This may be correct to a certain extent, but training for career can significantly improve your employment opportunities by teaching you the nuances of your work. Various kinds of careers like desktop publishing, office administration, automotive management, and medical assisting can be embarked upon through such training. You may be awarded either a certificate, a diploma, or a degree which you can furnish to your prospective employer while applying for the job. But before that, you are likely to be trained rigorously for few weeks, months, or maybe longer depending on the field of study. By the end of the training you should be well equipped to handle the technicalities associated with a particular entry level job and hence, can do well in it. Training for career (also known as vocational training) helps trainees directly develop expertise needed for their respective jobs. Even employees working in companies seek to undergo such training in order to attain a new level of expertise (along with a promotion and a salary hike that usually follows). But originally, this kind of training catered to a very different class of people. In fact, until the end of the twentieth century, vocational training catered to specific trades only such as automobile repair and welding. The term has social undertones because generally people from the backward classes (who could not afford education) enrolled in these trainings. But gradually, with the labor market becoming more specialized and with industries demanding high levels of skill, people from all strata of society are going for this type of training. Even governments and private and public businesses are investing in organizations of vocational training as they envisage the future of careers and specialized skills required in them. Nowadays training for career is important for various industries such as tourism, retail, cosmetics, funeral services, information technology etc. Traditional crafts and cottage industries also need vocational courses to train their employees. So, quite clearly, this kind of specialized training will keep growing in stature across the globe. |
